The chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, Mr Abdurrashid Bawa, has urged the house of Representatives to allocate more funds to the commission in the 2023 budget to enable it to establish the proposed EFCC academy.
Mr Bawa made the call while defending the commission’s 2023 budget before the house of Representatives committee on EFCC.
He said 3 billion naira was allocated for the project in 2021 but that nothing was allocated to the commission for the project this year.
The EFCC boss explained that this would enable the commission to train its personnel to be a step ahead of criminals.
Bawa said he would seek the approval of the federal executive council tomorrow Wednesday for the commencement of projects at the proposed academy which he said would cost 3 billion naira as earmarked by the National Assembly.
According to him, the commission would require at least fifty billion naira to execute the project.
