Nigerian Union of Journalists, Sokoto state Chapter pledged cordial working relationship with the newly established News Agency of Nigeria zonal office Sokoto .The chairman of the NUJ Sokoto state council, Comrade Dalhatu Safiyal-Magori gave the assurance when he led six chairmen of NUJ chapels in the state on solidarity and congratulatory visit to NAN Sokoto zonal office in the state He described the appointment of Malam Habibu Harisu as the Zonal Manager as well deserved and assured the union’s support and harmonious working relationship. The chairman urged the new zonal manager to work towards maintaining the image of NAN through well informed information dissemination for socio-Political and economic development of the country. Safiyal Magori noted that with NAN’s expertise, and qualitative contents the development would further enhances wider coverage of the zone that included zamfara Sokoto and Kebbi States.He enjoined NAN staff to continue display high sense of professionalism and commitment to duty for effective service delivery.Responding, the new Zonal Manager of the zone Malam Habibu Harisu thanked the NUJ Chairman and Chapel Chairmen for the solidarity visit.He said the agency had discentralized its organisational structure with the establishment of six additional zonal offices for administrative convenience, and expansion of coverage in the country.He explained that the new zones are Akure, Owerri, Asaba, Maiduguri, Minna and Sokoto, while the six old zonal offices are Ibadan, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Bauchi, Kaduna and Jos.Harisu said NAN would ensures truthful and fair reportage that have direct bearing to the development of the society as well as protecting Government interest for sustainable development.The Zonal Manager pledged to work towards safeguarding the nation’s integrity and facilitates infrastructural and human capital development through proactive information sharing .NASIR MALALI
