The Central Bank of Nigeria CBN has sensitized Katsina traders and the general public on the need to deposit their old notes in the banks before the January 31st deadline.Speaking during the event held at Central Market Katsina, the CBN Governor Mr Godwin Emiefele said the exercise was part of efforts to inform the public that the old naira notes would cease to be legal tender on the 31st of January 2023.Represented by the Director Currency Operation Ahmed Bello Umar, the CBN Governor said there was no limit to the amount individuals or corporate bodies can deposit in their bank accounts.The representative of the National Orientation Agency in Katsina State Mukhtar Lawal Tsagem said the agency will embark on massive enlightenment campaign to educate the populace about the policies and programmes of the Apex Bank.The Chairman Bank Branch Managers Association Alhaji Ibrahim Aminu said all the ATM machines in the state had enough new naira notes to dispense.Earlier the Chairman Central Market Traders Association Abbas Labaran Albaba assured to support the policies of the bank.Some of the traders interviewed by Radio Nigeria at the market appealed for extension of the deadline to enable more people have access to the new naira notes.COV/SY/MRA
