ELECTION RESULTS FROM KATSINA
The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has been announced winner of the presidential election held in Katsina State, defeating his closest contender, Chief Bola Tinubu of the APC.
Declaring the result at the INEC office in Katsina, the Returning Officer for the election, Professor Muazu Abubakar Gusau, said Atiku polled 489.045 votes while Tinubu scored 482,283 votes.
Similarly, Peter Obi of the Labour Party polled 69,385 votes ahead of Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, who got 6,376 votes.
The Returning Officer said the state has a total of 3,516,719 registered voters out of which 1,097,663 registered voters were accredited for the presidential election.
He noted that only 1,058,673 of the voters cast valid votes as 32,514 were confirmed as invalid.
Prof. Gusau however explained that the election was cancelled in some polling units due to acts of political thugs or over-voting.
The affected polling include one in Baure Local Government Area, three in Funtua, one in Dutsinma, one in Daura and two polling units bin Danmusa Ocal Government Area.
He explained that the results from these polling units were not enough to affect the outcome of the result.

NASS ELECTION RESULTS
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Alhaji AbdulAziz Musa Yaradua of the All Pogressives Congress, APC, as winner of the Katsina Central Senatorial District election.
Announcing the result at the collation center in Katsina, the returning Officer for the election, Prof. Aminu Dalhatu Kankia said Yaradua scored a total of 153,512 votes to defeat his closest rival, Alhaji Surajo makera of the PDP who polled 152,140 votes as Alhaji Gambo Abubakar of the NNPP scored 16,005 votes.
AbdulAziz Yaradua is a retired Lt. Colone in the Nigerian Army and a younger brother to the late president of Nigeria, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yaradua.
Similarly, the APC candidate Alhaji Nasir Sani Zango has been declared winner of the Katsina North Senatorial zone which has twelve Local Government Areas including Daura.
Zango polled 174,523 votes to defeat the incumbent, Senator Ahmad Babba-Kaita, of the PDP who scored 163,502 votes.
In Katsina South Senatorial District, Alhaji Muntari Dandutse of the APC polled 203,245 votes ahead of PDP’s Dr. Garba Matazu who scored 151,519 votes.
Similarly, out of the fifteen House of Representatives seats in the state, APC swept nine seats while PDP got six.
