Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has advised working journalists in the state to be objective in their reportage and shun reports capable of portraying the state and its leaders in a bad light.
The Governor gave the advice while receiving a farewell award from the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists led by its state chairman Comrade Tukur Hassan Dan-Ali ,held at Government House Katsina.
He said for the past eight years, his administration sustained policies aimed at promoting freedom of expression, media freedom and safety of journalists across the state.
Governor Aminu Masari who expressed gratitude for the honour given to him, assured to continue to be a friend of media after leaving office in the next couple of hours.
while presenting the award to Governor Masari, the State Council Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists Comrade Tukur Hassan Dan Ali said since inception in 2015, the Masari led administration built a cordial working relationship with journalists in the state.
Comrade Hassan Dan Ali commended the humility and magnanimity of the Governor for ensuring freedom of expression in the state.
In a remark, a lecturer at Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic Dr Samaila Balarabe enumerated some of the achievements recorded by Masari led administration in the areas of education, health, agriculture and human development.
Other speakers at the event were the Chairman of Correspondent Chapel Abdulhamid Sabo and his counterpart of NAWOJ Hannatu Muhammad.
