Hundreds of thousands gathered at Giginya Stadium Sokoto to witness the swearing in of Ahmad Aliyu as the seventh democratically elected governor of Sokoto state.
The colourful ceremony was heavenly guarded by security agents to ensure law and order at the historic state government’s power transition in Sokoto state.
Shortly after taking his oath of office as the new Sokoto state governor, Aliyu announced his nine point agenda.
The new governor who was sworn in alongside his deputy, Muhammad Idris Gobir, said the nine point agenda include uplifting the standard of education, healthcare delivery and water supply.
Others are agriculture, security, youth empowerment, local government autonomy, religious affairs and economy.
Ahmed Aliyu appealed to the people of the state to give him the needed support for socio security and economic development of the state.
