Professor Babagana Zulum has been sworn in for the second term as the Governor of Borno state.
At an event at Ramat Square Maiduguri, Borno state Chief Judge, Justice Kashim Zanna first administered the oath of office and that of allegiance to the Deputy Governor Alhaji Umar Kadafur and later to Governor Babagana Zulum.
In a speech shortly after his swearing in, Governor Zulum promised to strengthen the security architecture and eliminate all forms of insurgency in the state.
This he explained is to sustain the current peace in the state.
The Governor assured to reconstruct more than thirty communities destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents.
“We intend to consolidate in our resettlement effort by resettling Abadam, Malamfatori, Gudumbali, Kareto, Ashigashiya, Wala, Yamteke, Modube, Bita, Dalwa, Sandiya, Kumshe, Gulumba, Gajibo among others.
Governor Babagana Zulum announced plan to close greater percentage of IDP camps in all the twenty seven local government areas of the state in a dignified manner.
He thanked people of the state for giving them another mandate and promised not disappoint the people of Borno.
The Secretary to the State Government Usman Jidda Shuwa remarked that the Governor has executed numerous developmental projects despite the security challenges.
He said the deployment of non-kinetic approach by Governor Zulum has resulted in surrender of 100,000 repentant insurgents.
