Katsina state governor Mallam Dikko Umar Radda has given the independant marketters twenty four hours to open and dispense petrol to motorists in the state.
The governor gave the directive when he sermoned an emergency meeting with independent petroleum marketers IPMAN ate government house ..
He said government would resort to force dispensing of the commodity to the motorists if they failed to comply.
Governor Dikko Radda said the meeting followed complains reaching the government that some petrol filling stations had closed down their stations while others raised the price of the commodity to about three hundred and fifty naira per litre.
The decision of the petrol marketers came just a day after the official announcement of the withdrawal of fuel subsidy by the federal government to take effect from the end of June
Mallam Dikko Radda said the meeting was to discuss possible ways of ensuring that people of the state are not subjected to in told hardship.
He therefore solicited for support and understanding from the IPMAN members for the general good of people of the state.
On attendance at the meeting include the chairman state taskforce on procurement and distribution of petroleum Alhaji Lawal Aliyu.
On the other hand the chairman of the independant petroleum marketters Association Alhaji Abba’s Hamza promised to mobilize other members of the Association on the decision reached with the state government for their cooperation.
