Katsina state government says it is ever ready to partner with any body or an organisation that is committed to improve food security not only in the state but at country at large.
The Deputy Governor Mallam Faruk Lawal Jobe stated this during the launching of 2023 wet season farming by Maize Association of Nigeria under private partnership programme held at Karkanda stadium Katsina.
Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe who represented Governor Mallam Dikko Umar Radda at the event said, agriculture is the second most priority after security in its strategic policy in the state.
He said, Katsina state being agricultural state, government will not take it lightly.
Malam faruk Lawal Jobe stressed that no meaningful development could be achieved, without food security.
He spoke at length on the government zeal to mechanised agriculture to attained food security in the state.
Malam faruk Lawal Jobe said, government is committed to improve agriculture as Governor is an expert on the sector.
He appealed to the beneficiaries to utilize the inputs given to them for food security in the state and the country by extension.
Earlier the national president of the Maize association of Nigeria Dr Bello Abubakar Annoor said, the event is symbol of the Associations commitment to collaborate with government to improve agriculture in the state.
He said, the associaition is also determined to partner with stake holders to boast maize farming to attain food security in the state in particular and country at large.
Dr Bello Abubakar Annoor said, the association was established 32 years ago, and its comprised all the key players of maize farming ranging from researchers, primary producers, marketers, processors, inputs suppliers and many several others.
In a vote of thanks, the Vice National President North Iliyasu Maazu who expressed the Associations gratitude to the government for honoring it invitation underscored the importance of agriculture as no country could develop without developing the sector.
Shortly after launching the programme, the National president of the association has decorated the deputy governor with an award of honor for being great farmer, and he was conducted round to see the farming implement display during the programme.
