ZAMFARA GOVERNOR DAUDA LAWAL ENGAGES 1,500 YOUTHS IN SANITATION PROGRAMME.
Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara state has inaugurated the Zamfara Youth Sanitation Programme (ZAYOSAP) with the mandate of cleaning up the State Capital, and its environs.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity) to the Governor Malam Sulaiman Idris and made available to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital.
He said the Zamfara Youth Sanitation Programme is aimed at creating job opportunities targeting the teeming youths of the State.
Dauda Lawal reiterated that the programme is in line with the Administration’s commitment to promote hygiene, and prevent diseases within the state capital and in all the 14 local government councils.
He added that, phase one of the sanitation programme commenced with the employment of 1, 500 youths carefully selected from five wards of the Gusau local government area which to includes Galadima, Mayana, Madawaki, Sabon Gari, and Tudun Wada wards respectively.
The Governor urged the youths to be committed to the responsibility and roles assigned to them adding that, the sanitation programme is one of the many programmes the State Government wants to introduce to engage the youths.
Earlier, the member representing Gusau and Tsafe Federal constituency, Kabiru Mai Palace, expressed utmost gratitude to the State Government for such a timely initiative.
Also, in his remark, the State coordinator of the Zamfara Youth Sanitation Programme (ZAYOSAP), Kabiru Muhammad Danyadado thanked the Governor for fulfilling one of the campaign promises he made to the youths.
