The National Commission for the Coordination and Control of Proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NATCOM) is set to employ a total of 7,000 personnel in each state to address the prevalent problem of illegal weaponry.
The Acting Director General Dr. Adejare Adegbenro, disclosed this in a statement in Abuja, emphasizing the agency’s dedication to the cause.
Dr Adegbenro said under the initiative, NATCOM will collaborate effectively with other security agencies to drive its vision.
“We are going to employ about 300,000 personnel across the country with a viewing to making our nation a safer place. We won’t just employ, they will all undergo effective training. This in itself will also reduce the unemployment rate in the country. We shall join forces with other security agencies in driving our course
“We are aligning fully with 8 point agenda of his His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in which security is the focal point. Of course, with no security, development will be hard to come by”
According to him, those interested should be on the look out for the guidelines on national dailies, adding that they are looking for energetic and trainable youths.
