Kano State house of assembly (KNHA),has described media as a major catalyst in promoting, and informing the public about legislative proceedings.
The chairman house committee on Information, Alhaji Shua’ibu Rabi’u made the disclosure, during a courtesy visit to Kano commissioner of Information, Comrade Baba Halilu Dantiye in his office.
According to him, the media is an indispensable tool, through which the public are informed about legislative activities, saying that, the objective of the visit was to strengthen the already existing cordial working relationship, with media stakeholders in the State.
The chairman, appealed to the commissioner to maintain the tempo, in advocating for accurate, timely,balanced and objective reporting of events.
Alhaji Shua’ibu stressed that, information serves as a means of enlightening, the public on the programs and policies of the present administration in the areas of education, health, agriculture,human resource development among others.
Responding, Kano state commissioner of Information Comrade Baba Halilu Dantiye, commended the Committee for the visit and assured them that, the Ministry would engage with all relevant media organizations, by educating the people, on all matters related to development.
He assured them that, the media in Kano state would support the government, to move the State forward.
In a similar development, the committee also paid a visit to, Kano State Radio Corporation where they discussed with the managing director on the way forward.
The committee, promised to work hard in reviving the station, through the provision of modern facilities, to ensure efficient and effective service delivery to listeners.
The Managing director, Kano state Radio corporation, Alhaji Hisham Habib, promised to give them all the necessary cooperation, to uplift the station according to international standards.
