Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja has charged Chief Clerks of the Army to be professional in handling official documents of the Army.
He gave the charge while declaring open, the 2023 Nigerian Army Chief Clerks’ convention in Kaduna.
Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja who was represented by Brigadier General Moses Gara explained that sustained efforts by subversive elements and dissident groups to cast aspersions against the Army, especially on allegations of human rights violations using the social media amongst other situations, demand personnel to be adaptable, circumspect and responsive.
The Army Chief noted that the emergence of cyberspace as an operational domain, and the impact of social media to Army operations is one of such issues that require attention.
He stressed that the Army must continue to undergo realistic training, and be capable of accomplishing all statutory tasks, by re-invigorating capabilities that have declined, enhancing the capacity of personnel and developing new capabilities for all round increased efficiency.
General Lagbaja, who urged the personnel to participate actively so that they reap the full benefits of the package, also pointed out that the convention would expose them to new and innovative techniques of data management, clerical duties, organisation and office management.
The Nigerian Army Chief Clerks’convention 2023 is aimed at highlighting the roles of chief clerks in Army formations and units, as well as to improve their productivity and capability.
The weeklong event, which drew about 450 participants from various Army formations and units across the country has as its theme: “Enhancing Efficiency of Nigerian Army Chief Clerks For Effective Contribution to the Achievement of Nigerian Army Constitutional Responsibility Within a joint Environment”
