Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar has stressed the need for personnel to engage in regular exercises in order to keep fit ahead of occupational demand of roles.
According to a statement by Director of Public Relations and Information of NAF, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet says the Air Chief stated this shortly after the annual 10km walk/jog exercise for personnel in Abuja.
Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar noted that citizens depend on members of the Armed Forces for the safety of their lives and property, which cannot be achieved without physical fitness and mental alertness.
He explained that the success of the NAF directly reflects the skills and competence of personnel, which are also tied to their physical, mental and intellectual well-being, which are critical to attaining overall objective.
The Air Chief emphasized that the event was also aimed at promoting peaceful co-existence amongst personnel and their families, as well as serve as an avenue for discovering new talents for the upcoming 2024 Armed Forces games.
Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar used the occasion to congratulate the NAF volleyball male and female teams in the National volleyball league, who recently gained promotion to the elite division one and premiere league.
He also commended NAF personnel who were selected to participate in the world military wrestling game at Azerbaijan 2023, as well as NAF football team playing in the Nigerian National league and female basketball team that qualified to represent the Armed Forces of Nigeria in the world military games.
