Troops of 1 division, Nigerian Army have on the 12th of this month, carried out a clearance operation around Maro-Chibiya forest in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, following credible intelligence.
According to a statement by Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 1 Division Kaduna Lt Colonel Musa Yahaya says during the operation, troops made contact with bandits and engaged them with heavy volume of fire and neutralised one of the bandit, forcing others to flee in disarray with gunshot wounds into the surrounding forest.
Similarly, on the 10th of November, while on a clearance operation at Kawara and filin Jalo villages in Igabi Local Government Area of the State, troops made contact with bandits, where a fire fight ensued, resulting to the killing of a bandit, while one AK-47 rifle loaded with quantity 30 of 7.62mm(special) ammunition, one motorcycle and one mobile phone were recovered.
In the same vein, troops conducted clearance operation at Mai-kulu-gwanda, rafin gora, funtua-badadi and kabawa villages in Birnin Gwari local government area where one bandit was neutralised, and a radio and motorcycle were recovered.
The General Officer Commanding 1 Division, and Force Commander, operation Whirl Punch, Major General Valentine Okoro had commended the troops for their gallantry and charged them to sustain the tempo until all criminal elements in the division’s area of responsibility are completely eliminated.
