The joint committee of Petreleum resources has been discouraged with the budgetary provisions of the Petroleum ministry
The co chairman of the House Hon Alasan Ado Doguwa gave this indication shortly after the committee meeting with the stakholders to defend the 2024 budget of the ministary and other Agencies under the ministary
Hon Alasan Ado while explaining to newsmen the situation said many members were surprised to see that the entire budget is not up to ten billion naira and going by the importance of the sector in revenue generation some argued that the Government need to fund the ministary adequately for sustainable economic stability
He added that they also check some provisions of the ministary meant to buy some vehicles which to.many members are not explicit to their understanding
Hon Doguwa explained that some.members who are new have been questioning why the history communities are not taken care very well , he said the petreleum Industry Bill PIB has taken care of that by directing to take away three percent of what has been generated from oil in those communities to take care of themselves and many more.
Hon Alasan further said they also questioned the issue of money meant for subsidy saying some Nigerians are asking what the Government is doing with such monies since subsidy has been removed.
He assured that the committee is committed in partnering with the ministary to ensure the meager resources budgetted fir tge ministary are adequately utilised for the benefit of Nigerians.
