The Nigerian Airforce says it will continue to accord priority to the welfare of veterans, in view of their immense contributions to the peace and development of Nigeria.
Air Officer Commanding Air Training Command, Air Vice Marshal Nnamdi Ananaba stated this at a seminar organised by the Command for veterans in commemoration of this year’s Armed Forces and remeberance day celebrations held in Kaduna State.
Air Vice Marshal Nnamdi Ananaba explained that year in year out, the nation organises various activities in commemoration of the event to honour heroes past, with some paying the ultimate price, while others completed their service.
He pointed out that the event was aimed at reaching out to the veterans, and giving them a sense of belonging.
According to him, the two day event which featured a medical outreach and seminar, were geared towards encouraging veterans who may not have had the time or reason to go for routine medical check-up to do so, as well as to enable the NAF to tap from their wealth of experiences, and to get feedback on their welfare.
The Air Officer Commanding disclosed that the NAF would henceforth sustain the event to reflect on what it means to be a patriot and a veteran.
Air Vice Marshal Ananaba commended the veterans for their services to the nation, and stressed that the NAF would continue to tap from their wealth of experiences for enhanced service delivery.
The seminar, which featured two paper presentations, drew veterans resident in Kaduna State.
