Former Governor of Nasarawa State Senator, Abdullahi Adamu, says unveiled his vision and dream for Phoenix University Agwada, the first indigenous institution to improve rural education became reality.
Senator Abdullahi Adamu stated this while hosting the traditional rulers from Western Zone during the insightful reception by the management of Phoenix University in Agwada, Kokona local Government area of the State..
The ex-APC National Chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu while reflecting on the journey from the dream to reality, expressed his joy in being part of the institution’s team, extending gratitude to traditional rulers for their visit to witness the university’s grandeur.
He explained the rationale behind situating the first indigenous University in a rural setting, emphasized the significant of the rural population, where access to education in urban centers poses challenges.
Senator Abdullahi Adamu, recounted his father’s teaching profession and the lack of educational infrastructure in Agwada, the university’s birthplace, underscoring the need for indigenous higher education institutions.
Addressing the traditional rulers, the Former Nasarawa State Governor insist that It is not his university but the people’s university, urging them to embrace Phoenix University as their own and to strive for excellence in its development.
He said his commitment to rural education extends to the agricultural sector and emphasized its core importance at Phoenix University, pointing out that, the appointment of Professor Abdullahi Bala, a seasoned professional in agriculture, as Vice Chancellor donated his farm to facilitate practical learning experiences, underscoring and dedication to societal upliftment.
Speaking during a facility tour of the university, the Emir of Keffi Dr. Shehu Chindo Ya-musa the third said the infrastructure and facilities put in place by the management stands out as one of the best the country can boast of in education sector.
According to him, only the Afe Babalola University in Ekiti State can be compare to Phoenix in terms of infrastructure and facilities.
The monarch said he is specially impressed by the institution’s Robotic Technology initiative, adding that the vision showed that the owner of the university was forward-looking and in tune with the global trend.
He said with the state-of-the-art equipment already in place, the institution is bound to become the Robotic Technology and Artificial Intelligence hub in the country.
